Karen Plains Hotel is an independent boutique hotel in Karen Plains Arcade, on Karen Plains Road. Nothing festive is confirmed at the hotel for 2026, so we are not advertising Christmas dinners, parties, decorations or entertainment. If that changes, we will tell you when you ask. What we can promise is the everyday part of a good stay: a quiet room, breakfast from 7:00, a front desk that is open 24 hours, and a team that enjoys helping you plan.
That makes the hotel a calm base rather than the main event. For many families that is exactly the point. Your Christmas happens with the people you came to see, and the hotel is where you rest in between.

Breakfast runs from 7:00 to 10:30, and if you would rather not head out after a long day of visits, lunch and dinner can be added at the hotel for US$40 per day for both meals. If an early outing means leaving before breakfast, ask for a packed breakfast.

- Cave à Manger, The Wine Box's wine-paired restaurant, is in Karen Plains Arcade, the same arcade as the hotel, opposite The Waterfront Karen.
- The Waterfront Karen is a few steps from the hotel, handy for a casual family meal or a walk.
- Cultiva, a farm-to-table restaurant, is also in Karen. Plan transport rather than assuming you can walk.
- Karen's restaurants more broadly give you plenty of choice for a long holiday lunch.
Restaurants set their own holiday hours and menus, so book tables with them directly, especially for Christmas Day.

Local experiences within easy reach of Karen
The Giraffe Centre, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the Karen Blixen Museum and Nairobi National Park are all in or near Karen. They make good half-day outings, which suits holiday weeks when family plans shift.
- Giraffe Centre: an easy outing for mixed ages. We can book a guided tour.
- Nairobi National Park: wildlife on the edge of the city. A half-day guided tour can be arranged through us. Wildlife sightings are never certain.
