What delegates should sort out before arriving
1. The airport run, in advance
Landing into a conference week and negotiating a ride at the terminal is the worst possible start. Arrange the transfer with your hotel before you fly. Ours are fixed-price: JKIA in a sedan at US$55 per vehicle, JKIA in a Land Cruiser at US$95, Wilson at US$45 and Wilson in a 4x4 at US$85.
2. Somewhere to actually work
Evenings during a conference are when the follow-up gets written. Every room here has a work desk, Wi-Fi is free throughout, and a generator covers the guest rooms and the Wi-Fi during power interruptions. If you need a room for a side meeting, the Boardroom Day Pass is US$20 per day from 9:00 to 17:00.
3. Meals you do not have to think about
Breakfast runs 7:00 to 10:30. Lunch and dinner are available together for an extra US$40 per day, which is worth taking if your evenings are unpredictable.
4. Late arrivals
The front desk is staffed 24 hours. Check-in is from 12:00 and check-out is by 10:00, but if your flight lands at three in the morning, say so when you book and we will have someone expecting you.
A quiet note on timing: several October expos in Nairobi run back to back at Sarit Expo Centre, and the Nairobi International Trade Fair opens at Jamhuri Park on 28 September. If your travel is flexible, the rooms are easier either side of those weeks.
Staying in Karen while you are here
Karen Plains Hotel sits in Karen Plains Arcade on Karen Plains Road, a few steps from The Waterfront Karen and its restaurants and supermarket. Check-in is from 12:00 and check-out is by 10:00, breakfast runs from 7:00 to 10:30, and the front desk is staffed 24 hours, so a late arrival is never a problem. Parking is free, Wi-Fi is free throughout, every room has a work desk, and a generator covers the guest rooms and the Wi-Fi when the power goes. Lunch and dinner are available together for an extra US$40 per day if you would rather not go out.
