Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) sits about 45 minutes from Karen Plains Hotel depending on traffic, and how you make that drive genuinely affects how your first hours in Nairobi feel. Here's an honest look at the options.
Private Transfer
The simplest option after a long flight is arranging a private transfer in advance. We work with Travel Corp for transfers and can help coordinate one once you've booked your stay, a driver waits for you at arrivals with your name, and you go straight to the hotel without negotiating anything at the airport.
Ride-Hailing Apps
Uber and Bolt both operate at JKIA and are a reasonable option if you'd rather arrange things yourself on arrival. Pickup points are clearly signed at the airport, and prices are fixed in the app before you accept a ride, useful if you want to avoid any airport taxi negotiation entirely.
Airport Taxis
Official airport taxis are available right outside arrivals. They're convenient if you land without data or a working SIM yet, though it's worth agreeing the fare before getting in, since these aren't metered in the way ride-hailing apps are.
What We'd Actually Recommend
If it's your first time in Nairobi or you're arriving late at night, a pre-arranged private transfer removes the most variables, so you can settle into one of our rooms without extra stress. If you're comfortable navigating on your own and have a working SIM or roaming data, Uber or Bolt work well and tend to be the most cost-effective option.
Whichever way you arrive, our team is reachable by phone or WhatsApp if plans change or flights get delayed.
