The Changamka Kenya Shopping Festival is back for its seventh edition, under the theme "Buy Kenya, Build Kenya". It is organised by the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and runs from 3 to 7 November 2026 at KICC in Nairobi. Public entry is free, and visitors register through the event's online form, according to the KAM event page. Opening hours are not published there, so check with the organisers before you go.
Who it suits
- Exhibitors and their teams from outside Nairobi who need rooms for several nights and an easy way to set up and pack down.
- Buyers and traders who want to see Kenyan products in one place and meet manufacturers.
- Shoppers and families making a short trip to the city who want a calm place to return to afterwards.
Why stay in Karen
KICC is in the city centre, which is busy and hard to park in. Karen is quieter and greener, and it gives you a place to rest after a full day on your feet. The trade-off is travel time, and you should plan for it.
- Allow extra time at peak hours. Trips between Karen and the city centre can be long in the morning and evening. Travel outside peak times where you can.
- Use ride apps. Uber and Bolt both operate in Karen, which saves you from parking in the city. Our Nairobi transport guide has more.
- Driving instead? Parking is free at the hotel, but plan where you will leave your car near the venue.
- Carrying stock or samples? Tell us at booking and we will help with arrival timing. We cannot promise storage space, so confirm what you need first.
A simple plan for the days
- Arrival day. Check in from 12:00, settle in and keep the evening easy. Have dinner in Karen rather than heading back into town.
- Festival days. Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 10:30. Leave once the first traffic has eased, and plan a break at midday.
- Last day. Check-out is by 10:00. If your flight is later, tell us in advance and we will see what we can do.
Before and after the festival
If you have a spare half-day, Karen has plenty to fill it. See our guide to food and shopping around Karen, or compare areas in Karen vs Westlands vs the CBD if you are still choosing where to stay.
Plan a team stay
Sending several people? Tell us how many rooms you need and your dates, and we will reply with a quotation. Our corporate accommodation checklist is a good place to start.
