The Africa Cup of Nations 2027 will be the first one hosted jointly by three countries, and Nairobi is one of the host cities. If you are thinking about travelling for the tournament, the most useful thing you can do now is separate what is confirmed from what is still provisional, so you plan around facts.
What is confirmed
- Dates. The tournament is scheduled for 19 June to 17 July 2027.
- Hosts. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host together.
- Teams. 24 national teams will take part.
- Talanta Sports International Stadium. The 60,000-capacity stadium in Nairobi is the flagship Kenyan venue, and CAF inspected it in September 2026, according to Al Jazeera's report from 1 October 2026.
What is still provisional
- Fixtures and kickoff times. Wait for CAF to publish the match schedule before you book anything that depends on a specific game.
- Which matches are played where. Venue allocation can change, so do not assume a particular team or round will be in Nairobi.
- Match-day transport and fan zones. These are usually announced close to the event by the organisers.
- Visa and entry rules. Always check the official source before you travel. Our Kenya eTA guide explains the current process.
Work on the other venues and training grounds across the three host countries was still continuing in October 2026, so treat anything not announced by CAF or the Kenyan organisers as a plan, not a promise.
Where Karen fits
Karen Plains Hotel is about 5 km from Talanta Stadium. How long that takes on match day depends on traffic and on the arrangements the organisers put in place, so we do not promise a travel time. What a Karen base does give you is a quiet place to sleep, breakfast from 7:00 to 10:30, free parking and a front desk open 24 hours.
Karen Plains Hotel is an independent hotel. We are not an official partner of the Africa Cup of Nations, CAF, any team or any stadium.
How to plan now
- Choose a window, not a match. If you want to be in Nairobi for the tournament, plan around the whole period and add a day or two either side for flights and traffic.
- Keep dates flexible until fixtures are out. Ask about the cancellation terms of any booking before you pay.
- Travelling as a group? Tell us your dates and how many rooms you need and we will reply with a quotation. See our page on group accommodation for AFCON 2027.
